About Aaron Fairchild

The Author

Poetry entered my journey through the energetic and engaging efforts of my high school English teacher, Gary Plano. Beginning with Coleridge’s “Kubla Khan,” I have traveled a range of poetry and poets, and I’m grateful there is still so much more to read and learn! Along the journey I’ve sought to align my life, experiences, and unique skill sets (writing, banking, construction, etc.) with my passion to create a positive environmental and social impact during my short life. In the pursuit of positive impact, I have sought to better understand how to navigate change and transformation.

Exploring, writing, and creating frameworks to help people and organizations to grow and positively manage change and transformation has been a rewarding pursuit in my life and work through Green Canopy NODE, a company I first conceived in 2008 and continue to help run as a board member today. In addition to Green Canopy NODE, and in community with many like-minded people I also co-founded the Nehemiah Initiative and Cambia Capital in the effort to help regenerate communities and environments by connecting impact capital investments to positive impact and transformative real estate development projects.

  • "A truly unique leader and a generous teacher."

“Aaron Fairchild is blessed with the skills and sensibilities of the bard and the field commander, the steward and the heretic, the lover and the fighter. His poetic, passionate heart and voice meld seamlessly with the practical know how, diamond-sharp vision, and a vigorous, soulful wisdom honed over a lifetime of creating and leading multiple successful social and business ventures. Aaron is a truly unique leader and a generous teacher to help us better meet together the challenges of a troubled time.”

—Sean Hatt, PhD, Owner, Seattle Integrative Psychology

  • "Commitment to Social Change"

“Aaron’s commitment to social change is reflected in his approach as a developer and a poet! Now, how often do those two words appear in a sentence? In Aaron Fairchild’s case they absolutely apply. It’s been great working with him over the years, but it’s even better to call him a friend.”

—Darryl Smith, Executive Director HomeSight; former Deputy Mayor, Seattle Washington

  • "Leader that inspires.”

“As one of our leadership speakers for the Urban Land Institute’s Center for Leadership program, Aaron Fairchild spoke eloquently to our cohort about the need to set ego aside to create a culture of clear communication, focused vision and a fail fast approach to innovation. The ability to not only embrace new tools and approaches but also learn quickly from the inevitable mistakes and false starts that accompany their implementation is a valuable way to move an organization and a culture forward. Incrementally. It requires humility, patience, drive, and an openness to the wisdom of those around you—all while keeping your eyes on the big picture goals. It’s a balancing act. Aaron shared with our group the vision of a leader that leads themselves first, and showed himself to be the kind of leader that inspires others to follow.”

    —Michelle Rosenberger, Partner, ArchEcology

  • "Set the tone for our brand."
